ANTI RAGGING CELL

In accordance with the UGC Regulations of 2009, ragging in any form is strictly prohibited in all higher educational institutions in India. Ragging is defined as any act, whether spoken or written, physical or psychological, that causes harassment, embarrassment, or harm to a student. This includes bullying, teasing, abusive behavior, or forcing someone to perform acts against their will.
Ragging is not only a violation of institutional discipline but is also treated as a criminal offense under Indian law. Any student found participating in ragging may face severe consequences, including suspension from classes, cancellation of admission, expulsion from the institution, and legal action. Such measures aim to send a strong message that no form of ragging will be tolerated under any circumstance.
All institutions are required to set up an Anti-Ragging Committee and an Anti-Ragging Squad, composed of faculty, staff, and student representatives. These bodies are responsible for monitoring student interactions, conducting surprise checks, and taking immediate action in case of complaints. Institutions must also conduct regular anti-ragging awareness campaigns and display posters and notices throughout the campus to promote a ragging-free environment.
Students, along with their parents or guardians, are required to formally acknowledge and agree to abide by the anti-ragging rules at the time of admission. This declaration reinforces the responsibility of every student to help maintain a safe and respectful campus.
The core objective of this policy is to protect the dignity and well-being of all students, especially newcomers, and to create a healthy academic atmosphere built on mutual respect, trust, and inclusivity. Ragging in any form is not a part of campus culture and will be dealt with firmly and immediately.
