“Women Must Write Their Own History” – Dr. Kavita Parmar
“To Understand a Country’s Condition, Look at the Status of Its Women” – Nishat Ambar, Ghatshila Circle Officer
A workshop was organized at the auditorium of Sona Devi University, Ghatshila, to honor women on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The seminar, titled “The Role of Women in Nation Building,” featured Dr. Kavita Parmar, a social worker, as the chief guest.
Dr. Kavita Parmar began by discussing the rights already granted to women. She emphasized that, in India, women have always played the role of givers. However, when this role of giver undergoes a change, it becomes a matter of concern. She further stated that the nation needs women to step forward and play a significant role in shaping society. Women must write their own history. She stressed that only when women are truly educated and aware will the country progress. Setting personal goals and striving towards them is essential for national development. Women should take full advantage of the opportunities available to them.
The event was also graced by Nishat Ambar, Ghatshila Circle Officer, as the special guest. Speaking on women empowerment, she said that a truly empowered woman is one who is capable of making her own decisions. She emphasized that women must be recognized as assets to the nation, as only then can they contribute effectively to its development. She added that if one wishes to understand the condition of a country, they should look at the status of its women.
On this significant occasion, Sushila Tudu, the Block Head of Ghatshila, expressed her thoughts about women, comparing them to the protective shade of a family. She urged students to focus on discipline.
Before this, Registrar Dr. Gulab Singh Azad welcomed the distinguished women guests, referring to them as “gems.” He shared insights about the establishment of Sona Devi University and explained the purpose of celebrating Women’s Day. Discussing the “Accelerate Action” theme, he stated that this day is celebrated to accelerate efforts toward protecting women’s rights, ensuring their dignity, freedom, and education. He pointed out that, despite their significant contributions, women’s achievements are often not widely acknowledged in society. The goal of International Women’s Day is to bring these contributions to the forefront. Dr. Azad further mentioned that even today, women continue to face discrimination, inequality, and various societal evils. He emphasized that for the nation to progress, women must be granted equal rights as men. He urged students to practice equality in their daily lives by encouraging and respecting their female peers and colleagues, ensuring they receive the support they deserve.
Chancellor Shri Prabhakar Singh motivated students through a storytelling session. He highlighted the increasing presence of women in educational institutions across the country.
