National Science Day Celebrated Today at Sona Devi University
School of Agriculture Science Team Secured First Position
A Science Exhibition-cum-Poster Competition was organized today at Sona Devi University, Ghatsila Campus on the occasion of National Science Day. This year, the theme of National Science Day is “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat.” The university students participated enthusiastically in this competition.
Dr. Khurshid Ahmad Khan, Head of the Department of Chemistry at Karim City College, encouraged the students, emphasizing the importance of systematic planning in understanding science. He stated that accurate information and proper knowledge are essential for success. Students should utilize their full potential and plan their studies or work systematically, as regular practice is the key to success. Dr. Khan also visited the exhibition and motivated the students.
National Science Day is a significant day dedicated to science, commemorating India’s first major scientific discovery. It is celebrated to raise awareness about science and promote its growth. National Science Day is observed in memory of the great scientist C.V. Raman, who discovered the Raman Effect. For this groundbreaking discovery, he was honored with the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930.
In this Science Exhibition-cum-Poster Competition, students created eleven models and several posters on different themes, featuring slogans and useful information. The School of Agriculture Science team emerged as the winners with their model based on the theme “Integrated Farming.” The team was led by Monali Mohanta, Rakhi Mahato, Anshu Kumari, Swati Kumari, and Shreshtha Srivastava.
The runner-up position was secured by the Diploma in Mechanical Engineering team, who designed a Fire-Fighting Robot model. The third prize was awarded to the B.Tech students, who created an impressive model on the theme “Pollution Control.” Students from other departments also showcased their models with great enthusiasm and pledged to perform even better next time.
On this occasion, university officials, faculty members, and staff encouraged and motivated the students.
In the Poster Making Competition, students demonstrated their creativity. The winning team conveyed a message through their poster on “Stop Pollution and Save Nature.” The runner-up team illustrated the Aquatic Ecosystem on their poster. The third prize in the poster competition was awarded to a poster based on the theme “Artificial Intelligence.”
