On the occasion of World Radio Day, a program was organized today at Sona Devi University, Ghatsila, by the School of Engineering & Technology and the School of Journalism.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Pooja Tiwari, Head of the Department, School of Engineering & Technology, said that artificial intelligence will take time to build emotional connections like radio. She stated that artificial intelligence is a tool, whereas radio is the soul of the masses. Radio has the ability to connect with people in a simple and natural way, and its bond with listeners is deep and longstanding. Just as parents, guardians, and teachers build emotional relationships with us, artificial intelligence has not yet been able to establish that kind of dialogue or emotional connection.
Dr. Nilmani Kumar, Head of the Department, School of Journalism, said that radio is a powerful medium for providing information, education, and entertainment. With the help of artificial intelligence, more high-quality programs can be created and broadcast.
During the discussion on the theme “Radio and Artificial Intelligence,” students shared their views. They noted that artificial intelligence is data-driven and may not be as effective in forming emotional connections with people; however, it has a wide reach. Information can be transmitted instantly across thousands of miles and spreads rapidly through mass communication channels.
Students from various departments of the university were present at the event.
