Extensive and Intensive Public Awareness Campaign by NSS for the Mega Blood Donation Camp

With the aim of making the mega blood donation camp organized at Sona Devi University, Ghatsila, Jharkhand on 22nd December 2025 a historic success, the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the university is conducting a continuous, well-planned, and extensive public awareness campaign. Under this campaign, efforts are being made to spread the message of blood donation to every section of society.

In this context, NSS volunteers organized a special public awareness program covering areas such as Maubhandar, Gurudwara Road, Dahigora, Circus Ground, and the Cultural Council. The main objective of this program was to make the general public aware of the importance, necessity, and social responsibility of blood donation and to encourage them to participate in this humanitarian act.

The public awareness program was successfully conducted under the leadership of Dr. Neelmani Kumar, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences; Dr. Sivchandra Jha, NSS Program Officer; and Ms. Patatri Mali, Nodal Officer. During the program, NSS volunteers directly interacted with local citizens, youth, shopkeepers, and passersby, addressing various myths about blood donation with scientific facts. The volunteers clarified that blood donation is a completely safe process, which not only saves the lives of patients in need but also serves as an excellent example of an individual’s humanitarian duty toward society.

On this occasion, Dr. Neelmani Kumar, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, said that blood donation is the highest form of human service. He emphasized that the camp organized by the university is an inspiring initiative to strengthen compassion, cooperation, and mutual responsibility in society and urged more people to participate in this noble cause.

NSS Program Officer Dr. Shivchand Jha stated that the need for blood transcends caste, religion, or class. Blood donation is, in fact, life-giving, helping save the lives of strangers in emergency situations. He urged the youth to come forward and donate blood, becoming agents of positive change in society. He also highlighted that the core objective of NSS is to cultivate a sense of service, discipline, and social responsibility among young people.

Nodal Officer Ms. Patatri Mali specifically addressed women and young girls, stating that raising awareness about blood donation is a pressing need. Active participation of women sends a positive message to society and helps dispel apprehensions surrounding blood donation.

During the public awareness program, NSS volunteers distributed pamphlets, chanted slogans, and engaged in direct dialogue to inform people about the mega blood donation camp scheduled on 22nd December 2025 at Sona Devi University campus, urging maximum participation. Local citizens appreciated this humanitarian initiative and expressed their willingness to take part in the blood donation camp.

At the conclusion of the program, a collective pledge was taken that NSS will continue to conduct public awareness programs in various areas in the coming days to turn blood donation into a mass movement and ensure that the proposed mega blood donation camp becomes a historic success.
