803rd Eye Camp Inaugurated at Ram Manohar Lohia Eye Hospital, Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, January 24:
In memory of late Sona Devi, the 803rd eye camp was inaugurated on January 24 at Ram Manohar Lohia Eye Hospital, located at Bagbera Thana Chowk, Jamshedpur. The camp is being organized from January 24 to 26 under the aegis of the Sona Devi Memorial Educational Foundation Trust, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society, East Singhbhum, Ram Manohar Lohia Eye Hospital, with support from Dropadi Devi Chimanlal Bhalotia Family Trust, Rajasthan Seva Sadan, and the District Rural Health Committee.

The camp commenced today with eye examinations of patients. Ophthalmologists Dr. B. P. Singh and Dr. Vinayak examined 120 patients, out of which 40 patients suffering from hyper-mature cataracts were selected for surgery and intraocular lens implantation.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Camp Convener Prabhakar Singh, Chairman of Sona Devi Memorial Educational Foundation Trust and Chancellor of Sona Devi University; Krishna Murari Gupta, Chairman of Matukdhari Lal Krishna Murari Charitable Trust; and social worker Ganesh Rao as the chief guests.

The camp is being conducted under the supervision of Vijay Kumar Singh, Honorary Secretary of the Indian Red Cross Society, East Singhbhum. He informed that the selected patients will undergo cataract surgery and lens implantation on Sunday, January 25, at the newly constructed operation theatre of Ram Manohar Lohia Eye Hospital. The surgeries will be performed by ophthalmologists Dr. B. P. Singh, Dr. Bharti Sharma, Dr. Poonam Singh, Dr. Vivek Kedia, Dr. Malay Dwivedi, along with their supporting medical team.

The successful conduct of today’s screening session was supported by volunteers Rakesh Mishra, Ashok Kumar Ghoshal, Ashok Kumar Singh, Ashish Singh, Radheshyam Kumar, Prakash Bhanu Mahato, and Shyam Kumar, who played a key role in the arrangements.
