Sona Devi University NSS Unit Conducts Voter Awareness Campaign in Kitadih Village

“An Aware Voter is the True Strength of Democracy” – Dr. Shiv Chandra Jha, NSS Coordinator

Under the aegis of the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Sona Devi University, Ghatsila, a voter awareness campaign was organized on November 3, 2025, in Kitadih village, which has been adopted by the university. Students and assistant professors from various departments of the university actively participated in this campaign.

The objective of the program was to increase awareness among voters about the importance of casting their votes. The NSS unit of Sona Devi University undertook this commendable initiative to educate rural voters about their voting rights and to increase voter turnout.

The campaign was led by NSS Nodal Officer Patatri Mali and Coordinator Dr. Shiv Chandra Jha. Students enthusiastically took out a rally in Kitadih village, raising slogans related to voter awareness and drawing the attention of the villagers. They also went door-to-door, interacting with voters and encouraging them to visit polling booths on time and exercise their right to vote.

NSS Nodal Officer Patatri Mali interacted particularly with women voters in the village, motivating them to vote along with their families to help increase voter turnout in the upcoming Ghatsila Assembly by-election.

On this occasion, Dr. Shiv Chandra Jha addressed the voters, stating that “Voting is not only a right but also a duty of every citizen. An aware voter is the true strength of democracy.” He urged the youth to motivate others to vote and play an active role in making the election process successful. Dr. Jha further emphasized that youth are the real strength of nation-building.
