Grand Inauguration of the Four-Day Annual Sports Festival “IGNITE 2025”

The four-day annual sports festival “IGNITE 2025” commenced at Sona Devi University, Ghatsila with great enthusiasm, excitement, and a vibrant atmosphere. The entire university campus came alive with the spirit of sportsmanship, energy, and unity.

Scheduled to run until 13 December, the grand event is being led by Sports In-charge Dr. Anil John. Addressing the students during the inauguration, he said that sports are the best medium for developing discipline, leadership, and team spirit. He encouraged all players to participate in every competition with full dedication and confidence.

The Chief Guest and Vice Chancellor, Dr. Braj Mohan Pat Pingua, motivated the students during the opening session, saying, “IGNITE 2025 will elevate the sports culture of the university to a new height. Events like these not only bring out sporting talent but also contribute to character building.” He appreciated the university’s sports development model and conveyed his best wishes to all participants for an outstanding performance.

Registrar Gulab Singh Azad, in his address, stated, “The university is consistently committed to empowering students and fostering their holistic development. The sports festival strengthens competitive spirit, discipline, and mutual harmony among students.”

The inaugural ceremony began with flag hoisting and torch lighting, symbolizing energy, dedication, and sportsmanship. A lively Zumba performance added even more enthusiasm and vibrancy to the sports arena.

The anchoring by Sonal Kumari infused excitement among the players. The first event of the festival was the Cricket Tournament, where Hon’ble Chancellor Prabhakar Singh encouraged the students by participating in the game himself. The spirited participation of the teams — Knights (Blue) and Warriors (Yellow) — made the opening day even more memorable.

IGNITE 2025 is being efficiently organized under the guidance and active support of the following Spot Committee Members—
Dr. Shiv Chandra Jha, Dr. Manoranjan Var, Dr. Debabrata Roy, Patatri Mali, Princi Kumari, Kishore Kumar Mahakur, Sonal Kumari, Sheikh Adil Nazir, and Vinay Prakash Chaudhary.

Over the next four days, the university campus will witness exciting events including athletics, indoor sports, and various team competitions. The university administration has urged all participants, faculty members, and spectators to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and contribute to the success of the festival.
