The fourth and final day of the four-day annual sports festival “Ignite 2025” at Sona Devi University, Ghatsila concluded with immense energy, competitive spirit, sportsmanship, and joy. From early morning, participants displayed great enthusiasm for the various events, and the entire university campus was immersed in a vibrant sporting atmosphere.
The day began with the final cricket match, the most anticipated event of the entire sports festival. The thrilling contest between Warriors (Yellow) House and Sportans (Red) House kept spectators engaged until the very last ball. Owing to excellent team coordination, disciplined bowling, and determined batting, Warriors (Yellow) House emerged as the champions. Their performance stood as an inspiring example of teamwork, strategy, and discipline for all students.
This was followed by the final matches of the Carrom competition, where chief referee Kishor Kumar Mahakur briefed the players on the rules and encouraged them. In the boys’ category, Knights (Blue) House, and in the girls’ category as well, Knights (Blue) House, secured impressive victories through superior strategy and self-control. Meanwhile, in the Chess competition, showcasing remarkable mental focus and strategic skill, Sportans (Red) House defeated Knights (Blue) House to claim the championship title.
In the second phase, students demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm in events based on skill, balance, and physical ability. The Spoon Race, a highly popular and challenging event among female students, witnessed participants displaying exceptional patience and speed. In this event, Gayatri secured first place, Sanchita second, and Sharda third, delivering an outstanding performance.
The Tug of War competition proved to be the most energetic and thrilling event on the university ground. Sports teacher Komal Kumari clearly explained the rules and ensured the event was conducted safely and smoothly. In the boys’ category, after an intense contest, Rangers (Green) House claimed first place through effective teamwork, followed by Knights (Blue) House in second and Sportans (Red) House in third place. The girls’ category also witnessed fierce competition, where Knights (Blue) House displayed the greatest strength and coordination to secure first place, with Warriors (Yellow) House finishing second and Sportans (Red) House third. These events vividly reflected the strong sports culture and unity among students at the university.
During the valedictory session, a friendly match organized by university faculty and staff added a delightful and familial touch to the program. All participants took part purely for enjoyment, cooperation, harmony, and sportsmanship, without the pressure of competition. The match truly embodied the spirit of “Sports for Joy.”
The final day of the four-day “Ignite 2025” festival was not only rich in sporting achievements but also reaffirmed that sports are not merely about competition, but a powerful medium for personality development, discipline, teamwork, and leadership.
