On the occasion of the 77th Republic Day, the Chancellor of Sona Devi University, Ghatsila Campus, Shri Prabhakar Singh, hoisted the national flag. Addressing the gathering, he said that everyone must work together in the national interest. He mentioned that this is the third year the festival has been celebrated on the university campus. Explaining the meaning of a republic, he said it signifies governance by the people. Referring to the contributions of Ram Manohar Lohia, Shri Singh emphasized the importance of freedom of expression and urged everyone to remain aware and collectively work towards the progress of the nation.
On this occasion, the Registrar, Dr. Nit Nayana, addressed the assembled group and stated that on Republic Day, everyone should take a pledge to work with dedication and honesty and play their role in taking the country forward. Assistant Professor of the Psychology Department, Dr. Nibha Shukla, informed the students that it was on this very day that the Constitution of India came into force. Assistant Professor of the Mathematics Department, Dr. Krishnendu Dutta, filled the audience with patriotic fervor by singing the song “Mera Mulk Mera Desh.”
A large number of university staff members, assistant professors, heads of departments, and students were present on the university campus during the event.
