The fifth day of Sona Devi University’s Freshers’ Week ‘Aagaaz 3’ was dedicated to teaching, training, and research. In the Vivekananda Auditorium, Mrs. Anusua Roy, Coordinator of the PhD Cell, informed students about the purpose of research, its quality, and its usefulness in society. She elaborated on the various stages of the research process. Following her, Assistant Professor of Library Science, Ms. Sushma Mardi, explained the importance of the library to the students. She discussed how students can benefit from library resources during their academic journey and how to search for references. She also clarified the difference between textbooks and reference books. Dr. Neelmani Kumar, Head of the Psychology Department, guided students on how to effectively learn and retain any subject. Earlier, Dean of the Pharmacy Department, Mr. Sudhanshu Shaudilya, had addressed the students on the importance of discipline in student life. In the second session of the day, students showcased their creativity and artistic talents through rangoli and painting competitions. Prem Prabhuji from ISKCON Foundation delivered an inspiring speech for the students, enhancing their self-awareness and motivation.

Sona Devi University’s Freshers Week – Day 3: NSS Coordinator Instills a Sense of Responsibility Among New Students

On the third day of the Freshers Week ‘Aagaz – 3’ at Sona Devi University, new students who had completed their enrollment were introduced to the activities of the National Service Scheme (NSS). They were encouraged to join the NSS and contribute to the community. The NSS Coordinator of Sona Devi University, Dr. Shivchandra Jha, along with Patotri Mali, presented a PowerPoint presentation to the students, highlighting the development initiatives undertaken in the selected Kitadih village. Patatri Mali shared how they interact with the villagers, identify their issues, and then plan and implement solutions to resolve those problems. Dr. Shivchandra Jha emphasized that the primary objective of NSS is to develop students’ personalities and character through service. He mentioned that understanding the community’s needs and serving them should be the focus, as it would foster leadership skills, patriotism, national unity, and a sense of social responsibility among students. As part of the Freshers Week, games were also organized on campus. The coordinator of sports events, Assistant Professor Rahul Kumar Saw, informed that competitions such as chess, carom, and musical chairs were held, and the winners were awarded prizes. In the evening, a Bhajan Sandhya (devotional music session) was organized at the Vivekananda Auditorium. On the occasion of Radha Ashtami, Snehil Soni from Jharkhand performed bhajans, filling the atmosphere with devotion and captivating the audience with her melodious voice.

Sports Events and Motivational Sessions Mark Day Two of Freshers’ Week at Sona Devi University

On the second day of Freshers’ Week at Sona Devi University, several sports competitions were organized. Sports coach Komal Sinha spoke to the students about the importance of sports in life. She also shared the biography of Major Dhyan Chand. Sports trainer Dr. Anil John Bilung provided detailed information about various games. He introduced students to the indoor and outdoor games available at Sona Devi University. In the first session of the day, Professor Dr. Rana Majumdar, a computer science professor at Sister Nivedita University, Kolkata, joined the event virtually. He delivered an inspiring speech to the new students. Dr. Majumdar encouraged them to embrace their academic journey with enthusiasm and adaptability, reminding them that success comes through continuous learning. He spoke about the rapid pace of technological advancement and encouraged students to see Artificial Intelligence (AI) not as a threat but as a powerful tool for the future. He guided them on how to use AI to enhance skills, solve real-world problems, and create opportunities across various fields. Dr. Rana Majumdar also emphasized the importance of balancing academics with sports in life. Sona Devi University’s HR, Mrs. Soma Patra, highlighted how sports help in developing the spirit of teamwork and competition. Just as teamwork is essential in sports, collaboration and a competitive spirit are also key to achieving success in life. She stressed the importance of discipline, noting that whether in sports or studies, discipline is vital for success. Freshers Week Celebrated at Sona Devi University | Inauguration of Vivekananda Auditorium by Vice Chancellor Dr. JP Mishra

Sona Devi University is currently celebrating Freshers Week. On the first day of the program, Vice Chancellor Dr. JP Mishra inaugurated the newly constructed state-of-the-art air-conditioned auditorium in the university building by cutting the ribbon. The Vivekananda Auditorium has a seating capacity of approximately 200 people. On this occasion, Dr. Mishra encouraged the students by advising them to bring a change in their thinking and focus on academic activities. He emphasized the importance of discipline and urged the students to stay determined in pursuing their goals. The Vice Chancellor shared tips for success, highlighting the importance of perseverance, discipline, and maintaining good health. Sharing his own experiences from student life, he advised students to avoid distractions and stay focused on their goals. Chancellor of Sona Devi University, Mr. Prabhakar Singh, while addressing the students at the Vivekananda Auditorium, called their presence memorable. He said that it is the university’s responsibility to shape the future of the students who have taken admission at Sona Devi University, but the students must also cooperate equally. Only then can the university fulfill their expectations. Mr. Singh advised students to attend classes regularly. Reassuring the new students, he urged them to approach their teachers without hesitation if they face any issues. The Freshers Week program at Sona Devi University will be held from August 28 to September 6, with various events planned. On the first day, new students dressed in traditional attire were welcomed. The theme for the opening day was “Step In, Step Tall.” After the welcome, all the newly admitted students were informed about the purpose of the program. Ms. Varsha from Sona Devi University delivered a PowerPoint presentation about the Admission Cell and its functions. She explained the admission process in detail and guided the students on how to complete the procedure through the university website. Following this, an introduction session for the newly admitted students was held. On this occasion, Registrar Prof. Dr. Gulab Singh Azad stated that Swami Vivekananda will always remain a role model for students and his thoughts will continue to inspire generations. He told the students that to move forward is to live, and there is still room for them to grow. They have chosen the right place for their academic journey. Sona Devi University is the ideal place to enhance students’ skills. The Registrar shared four key principles for achieving success in life: strength, strategy, devotion, and skills. Grand Induction-cum-Orientation Program 2025 Held at Sona Devi University

The Induction-cum-Orientation Program 2025 of Sona Devi University was held with great pomp and ceremony today at the Michael John Auditorium, Jamshedpur. The program commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony by Chief Guest Mr. Abhijeet A. Nanoti, Managing Director, JCAPCPL Jamshedpur; University Founder and Chancellor Mr. Prabhakar Singh; Vice Chancellor Dr. J.P. Mishra; Registrar Dr. Gulab Singh Azad; and Sona Devi Memorial Educational Foundation Trust member Dr. Nirmala Shukla. On this occasion, Assistant Professor of Sanskrit, Ms. Nikita, recited “Deep Suryagni Roopastvam Tejasah Tej Uttamam.” Prior to that, Ms. Anusua Roy, Assistant Professor of English, introduced Sona Devi University to the esteemed guests, parents, students, and other dignitaries, with support from Mr. Uday Chandravanshi. An audio-visual presentation showcasing the university’s vision and journey was screened. Student Megha Das and her group gave a graceful Ganesh Vandana performance through dance and music. Dr. Sangita Chowdhury, Head of the Music Department, beautifully rendered the university anthem “Jai Jai Jai Sona Devi Gurukul, Tera Gaurav Amit, Tera Yash Amar…” Registrar Dr. Gulab Singh Azad presented the university’s annual report, outlining the institution’s goals, activities, achievements, and future plans. A Bengali devotional folk dance was performed by Shalini and team to the song “Kalo Jole Kuchla Tole,” expressing Radha’s emotions upon Krishna’s departure to Vrindavan. Monali, Priya, and others offered a dance performance in honor of Goddess Durga. On this special occasion, Chancellor Mr. Prabhakar Singh welcomed the Chief Guest Mr. Abhijeet A. Nanoti and honored him with a shawl and memento. The university’s annual magazine “Badhte Kadam 2025” was released under the editorship of Dr. Gulab Singh Azad and compiled with the editorial support of Dr. Neelmani Kumar and team. The university also announced recipients of the newly established “S.D. Singh Memorial Service Awards.” Chancellor Mr. Prabhakar Singh explained that from this year onwards, the university will honor individuals annually for outstanding contributions in social work, education, industry, health, and tourism. This year’s honorees include: Students from 12 different schools under Sona Devi University participated in a banner show, proudly displaying their departments. A special audio-visual message from Prof. Dr. Amlan Chakraborty, Advisor to the university and Director of A.K. Choudhury School of Information and Technology, University of Calcutta, was played. Chancellor Mr. Prabhakar Singh also announced the launch of the “Radheshyam Agrawal Memorial Hindi Honor” from this year, recognizing excellence in Hindi language studies. A cash prize of ₹10,000 will be awarded annually to deserving students. The winners for this year were: Research scholar Mr. Prasenjit Sarkar from the Zoology Department gave a presentation on the biodiversity of flora and fauna in Ghatsila, East Singhbhum. B.Tech student Vansh and his team delivered a dynamic dance performance to the Bollywood song “Aankhen Khuli Ho Ya Ho Band.”Student Gautam and his group performed a short play on forest conservation.Aman and Reshmi danced to “Baadshah O Baadshah,” energizing the audience.Gargi and Shalini presented a folk dance to “Madhuban Mein Radhika Nache Re.”Aman and his team gave an emotional and patriotic drama based on Operation Sindoor.Khushi and team performed a celebratory dance to the Gujarati song “Ae Shubharambh Ho Shubharambh Mangalbela Aayi.”Aparna and her group danced joyfully to the Bollywood number “Badi Mushkil Baba Badi Mushkil.”Meanwhile, Pharmacy student Sandeep Singh Dev delivered a speech based on “Rashmirathi.” All faculty members and the assistant managerial team of the university were introduced during the program. At the end of the induction program, a solemn tribute was paid to the late Dishom Guru Shibu Soren and former Education Minister Late Ramdas Soren. He commended the university anthem for being full of philosophical depth and stressed the importance of understanding life, saying, “He who understands life, understands education.” He also highlighted the role of the body alongside education, stating that true education means self-awareness. Mr. Udit Agrawal, Editor of the Hindi daily Uditvani, stated that Sona Devi University has made tremendous progress in a very short time. He mentioned that the university grows in size and stature every year. Chancellor Prabhakar Singh hoists the flag on the occasion of the 79th Independence Day at Sona Devi University

On the occasion of the 79th Independence Day at Sona Devi University, Ghatsila, Chancellor Prabhakar Singh hoisted the national flag in the university premises. After the national anthem, he addressed faculty members from various departments, staff, students, and attendees, saying that salutations are due to those martyrs because of whom we are celebrating this festival today. He stated that we will achieve true freedom only when we eradicate social evils and harmful practices. Mr. Singh emphasized that in order to preserve our freedom, we must also uphold the values and fulfill the duties laid down by the Constitution and society. The goal of Sona Devi University, he said, should be value-based education. Although many universities operate across the country, the condition of higher education in the state is not very good. Even though it has been 25 years since the formation of Jharkhand, it is time to reflect on what the residents here have truly gained. On this occasion, the faculty of Sona Devi University presented the patriotic song Sare Jahan Se Achha along with several other songs dedicated to the brave soldiers of the nation. The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Sona Devi University organized the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.

Several assistant professors and students associated with the NSS unit of Sona Devi University participated in the rally under the leadership of the NSS unit. The students conducted the rally in Kitadih village, which has been adopted by the university, and inspired a spirit of patriotism among the villagers. Members of the rally also visited the Kitadih Anganwadi Center, where they interacted with the children, handed them the national flag (Tiranga), and raised patriotic slogans with them. The rally was flagged off by Vice Chancellor Dr. J.P. Mishra and Registrar Dr. Gulab Singh Azad.In his address, Dr. J.P. Mishra stated that the Tiranga (national flag) is a symbol of our pride and the pride of the nation. He added that together, we will organize this campaign every year and work to make it a success. The objective of this initiative is to strengthen the spirit of patriotism among citizens on the occasion of Independence Day celebrations in the country.‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ is a campaign launched under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to encourage people to bring the national flag home and hoist it as a symbol of India’s independence. This campaign aims to deepen the connection between citizens and the national flag. The Indian National Flag is not just a symbol; it represents our collective pride and unity. The purpose of this campaign is to foster a sense of unity, patriotism, and national pride by encouraging every Indian household to proudly hoist the national flag. Following the Central Government’s announcement of the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga campaign to be held from August 9 to August 15, this event has been organized annually. Launched in 2022 under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the campaign was initiated to instill a sense of patriotism and national pride by encouraging every Indian to hoist the national flag — and today, it has grown into a mass movement.

Diploma 2nd-semester students of Sona Devi University secured 2nd place in Electrotech 2025 Technical Model Exhibition, organized by B.A. College of Engineering & Technology, Galudih.

Diploma second semester students of Sona Devi University secured second place in the Electrotex 2025 technical model exhibition organized by B.A. College of Engineering and Technology, Galudih. Sona Devi University’s team, named Solutions Warriors, created a fire-fighting robot, which was praised by experts. Anurag Saxena, Chief of Electrical Maintenance at Tata Motors, who attended as a subject expert, inspected the models along with a jury committee and announced the winners. Around 40 models were presented at this exhibition by various universities and colleges from across Jharkhand. The team representing Sona Devi University included Diploma students Aman Das, Gautam Mahali, and Subhodeep Roy, along with Gautam Das. They worked hard to build this model and demonstrated great creativity and imagination. Pooja Tiwari, Head of the Department at SDU School of Engineering and Technology, stated that all students worked well as a team and showed excellent coordination. B.Tech second semester students of Sona Devi University also presented their model at the Electrotex 2025 technical model exhibition. At Sona Devi University, Ghatshila, a prayer meeting and condolence gathering were held today for the peace of the departed soul of Dishom Guru Shibu Soren. On this occasion, the Chancellor of Sona Devi University, Prabhakar Singh, said that with Guruji’s passing, an era in the politics of the state—and the country—has come to an end. Prabhakar Singh expressed that he prays to God to give strength to his family to bear this sorrow and to give the people of the state the strength to follow the path shown by him. Shibu Soren devoted his life to fighting for the backward and tribal communities.
