The MoU signed between Sona Devi University (SDU) Ghatsila and the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Ranchi, will play a decisive role in promoting digital literacy.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today between Sona Devi University (SDU), Ghatsila and the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Ranchi.Dr. Nit Naina, Coordinator, signed the MoU on behalf of Sona Devi University, while Dr. Nitin Kumar Puri, Executive Director, signed on behalf of NIELIT. Both institutions will jointly work to promote digital literacy and accelerate the delivery of skill development courses under the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF).The objective of this agreement is to bring together industries, institutions, and academicians to develop well-rounded, skill-oriented professionals who can contribute to national development. NIELIT is an autonomous scientific society under the administrative control of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. It was established not only to develop human resources in the field of Information, Electronics, and Communication Technology (IECT), but also to design industry-oriented quality education and training programs in advanced and cutting-edge areas. In accordance with the National Education Policy 2020 and other educational policies and frameworks, it is essential to enter into formal collaborations and Memorandums of Understanding with reputed institutions and industries to build skill-based capacities among Indian youth by leveraging the strength and capabilities of various institutions. There is a strong need for collaboration between universities and industries to foster investment in research and development and to bring forward innovative ideas in research. Industry-academia partnerships have enhanced knowledge, innovation, and creativity, and have played a decisive role in the economic growth of every country.

Pledge Ceremony for Drug De-addiction Organized at Sona Devi University, Ghatshila

A pledge session for drug de-addiction was organized today in the auditorium of Sona Devi University, Ghatshila. On this occasion, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr. J.P. Mishra, Registrar Dr. Gulab Singh Azad, and Controller of Examinations Mr. Kamlesh Singh were present. In the presence of university officials, all administrative, academic, non-academic staff members, and students took a pledge to remain free from drug addiction. Registrar Dr. Gulab Singh Azad encouraged all officers and employees to make a firm resolution never to consume any kind of intoxicant, not even by mistake, in the future. He also urged them to inspire others in society to stay away from addiction. On this occasion, NSS Unit Head Dr. Shiv Chandra Jha and members associated with the NSS unit of the university were also present. They pledged to keep their university campus free from the evil of addiction at all times.

Celebrating the 11th International Day of Yoga at Sona Devi University, Ghatsila

On the occasion of the 11th International Day of Yoga, the faculty members of Sona Devi University, Ghatsila performed yoga from 6:30 AM to 7:45 AM under the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” The session was organized under the guidance of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and the National Service Scheme (NSS). Sona Devi University recently received approval to initiate an NSS unit, and this celebration marks a proud moment in that journey. Over 10,000 locations across India joined the yoga celebrations today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the session from Visakhapatnam. Thanks to the efforts of the Government of India, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 21 as International Yoga Day, now being celebrated for the 11th time. Komal Sinha, Yoga Instructor at the university, shared that regular yoga practice supports focus, mental clarity, stress reduction, and better physical and mental health. It also boosts immunity—making it especially important for students to adopt yoga into their daily routine.

B.Sc. Agriculture Science students of SDU getting Internship Training at Jharkhand State Cooperative Bank ( JSCB )

Five students from Semester I and II of B.Sc. Agriculture at Sona Devi University, Ghatshila, are currently undergoing their summer internship. They have been given the valuable opportunity to gain work experience at the Jharkhand State Cooperative Bank Limited, Ghatshila branch. Branch Manager Sudeshna Munda informed that all the interns are being familiarized with banking procedures. They are learning how to interact with customers, open accounts, maintain files, and are also being educated about various government loan schemes. Additionally, they will be introduced to the LAMPS and PACS systems. The interns are also being taught the meaning of cooperation — how mutual support and teamwork contribute to economic development. Approval received from the Government of India to start a National Service Scheme (NSS) unit at Sona Devi University.

On May 27, 2025, Sona Devi University, Ghatsila, East Singhbhum, received approval from the Regional Directorate of the National Service Scheme (NSS), under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, Patna/Ranchi, to establish an NSS unit comprising 50 male and 50 female students. The National Service Scheme is a vital program aimed at the holistic development of students’ personalities. Through this initiative, students engage with rural and local communities, become aware of various issues and challenges, and actively participate in activities to help resolve them. The approval of this unit has created an atmosphere of joy and enthusiasm among the students of the university.

Devrishi Kashyap, a First-Year B.Tech Student of Sona Devi University, Selected for Upcoming Republic Day NCC RDC Camp Devrishi Kashyap, a first-year B.Tech student at Sona Devi University, has been selected for the prestigious NCC Republic Day Camp (RDC) to be held on the occasion of the upcoming Republic Day. By participating in this parade, he will bring pride to both Jharkhand and Sona Devi University. Recently, Devrishi was named the Best Cadet among 721 cadets during an event held in Jamshedpur. He was also awarded for Best Drill performance during the selection camp for cadets participating in the Republic Day Camp (RDC) and the Thal Sainik Camp (TSC), both of which are to be held in New Delhi. The camp was highly competitive, focusing on various aspects of cadet evaluation, including drill performance, leadership qualities, physical fitness, and overall personality. Seven students of Sona Devi University selected for the summer internship program.

Seven B.Tech in Computer Science (CSE) students from Sona Devi University, Ghatsila, have been selected for the Summer Internship Program. They will join RIZ Software Consultancy in Kolkata from August 2 to August 28. This company works in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Software Development. RIZ Software Consultancy has offered these students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in their project on Database Management. Pooja Tiwari, Head of the B.Tech Department at Sona Devi University, informed that all these students will complete their internship under the guidance of Assistant Professor Anil Bera from the Computer Science And Engineering Department. Vice Chancellor Dr. J.P. Mishra and Registrar Dr. Gulab Singh Azad presented the offer letters to the selected students. On this occasion, Registrar Dr. Gulab Singh Azad said that an internship program is a golden opportunity for students, as it allows them to improve their skills. The 164th birth anniversary of world poet Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore was celebrated today in the auditorium of Sona Devi University, Ghatsila. The event, organized under the joint aegis of the Bengali, History, and Political Science departments, was held on the topic “Rabindranath’s Philosophy of Life, Emotions, and Literary Works.” As the chief guest, Professor Mitreshwar, the former Head of the History Department at Ghatsila College, said that Rabindranath Tagore was the embodiment of fundamental consciousness. He created the “Bhanusinghde Padavali” in the Maithili language to connect with the masses. Rabindranath Tagore is the identity of Bengali culture. If Rabindranath Tagore’s works are separated from Bengali culture, nothing significant would remain in Bengali culture. Remembering Rabindranath Tagore’s contribution to the nation, he stated that he is synonymous with Brahma, who not only saw the problems but also provided solutions. Professor Mitreshwar said that the essence of Gurudev’s works is the feeling of attaining joy, which is only possible through knowledge. He further stated that education, which is not meaningful, leads to destruction. Professor Mitreshwar emphasized that India should become the country of Rabindranath’s dreams. After independence, the country has forgotten Rabindranath Tagore’s educational philosophy. On this occasion, the Chancellor of Sona Devi University, Prabhakar Singh, said that we are fortunate to celebrate the birth anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore along with that of the great warrior Maharana Pratap. On the occasion of Maharana Pratap’s birth anniversary, today is observed as Shaurya (Valor) Day. Maharana Pratap dedicated his life for the country. Mr. Singh, referring to the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan, stated that the leadership of the country is in capable hands, and we must remain vigilant at every level for our security. We must be ready to take all necessary steps for the security of the nation. The Vice Chancellor of Sona Devi University, Dr. J.P. Mishra, said that the world poet Tagore spoke of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the world is one family). He was a lover of nature and had a deep connection with Mahatma Gandhi. The University Registrar of Sona Devi University, Dr. Gulab Singh Azad, spoke about the works of world poet Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, urging everyone to try to follow the path he laid out. Rabindranath Tagore gave many inspirational thoughts on education, which should be adhered to. He also taught about trust and humility. Dr. Gulab Singh Azad also enlightened the audience about Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore’s views on education.
