Sona Devi University and TCS Enter into a Significant Partnership

Students to Gain Modern Technological Knowledge, Industry-Oriented Training and Practical Experience Along with Their Degrees: Chancellor Shri Prabhakar Singh

Jamshedpur: In a significant initiative aimed at providing students with quality education, modern technological knowledge, practical skills, and industry-oriented training, Sona Devi University has entered into an important agreement with Tata Consultancy Services Limited (TCS), one of India’s leading information technology companies. The agreement has been signed between Sona Devi Memorial Educational Foundation Trust and TCS with the objective of providing students with exposure to modern technologies, industry practices, and evolving employment requirements alongside their regular degree programmes.

Under the agreement, the TCS iON Industry Honour Curriculum will be integrated with the academic programmes of the students. Through this initiative, students will be able to acquire specialized knowledge and skills in industry-relevant fields or emerging technologies along with their regular degree education. The initiative will play an important role in moving students beyond textbook-based learning and familiarizing them with the practical requirements and challenges of the real-world workplace.

As part of the programme, students will receive a total of 45 hours of specialized training. The programme will include digital learning materials, videos, PDFs, and other educational resources, along with a structured study plan. In addition, subject-matter experts nominated by TCS will conduct classroom sessions and training programmes directly on the university campus. This will provide students with an opportunity to interact directly with experienced industry professionals, get their queries addressed, and understand the practical aspects of their subjects.

To make the training more effective and interactive, a group of 120 students will be divided into two classroom groups of 60 students each. As per the scheduled programme, TCS experts will conduct training sessions on the university campus. Training in smaller groups will enhance student participation and enable them to receive better guidance from the experts.

In today’s competitive employment market, a degree alone is not sufficient. The industry increasingly prefers young professionals who possess not only technical knowledge but also practical understanding, problem-solving abilities, innovative thinking, and awareness of workplace requirements. The partnership with TCS will serve as a strong bridge between education and industry and will play an important role in preparing students for their transition from the classroom to the workplace.

Assistant Registrar and Placement Coordinator Mrs. Archana Singh said that the agreement with TCS is an important opportunity for students to learn and develop their technical capabilities. She stated that in today’s time, skills and practical knowledge are essential along with a degree. The programme will help enhance students’ confidence and employability.

Registrar Dr. Nit Nayana said that Sona Devi University is continuously working to provide students with employability-oriented skills along with quality education. With guidance from TCS experts, students will have the opportunity to understand the real requirements of the industry and develop their technical skills. She stated that the partnership is an important step towards connecting education with employment.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Braj Mohan Pat Pingua said that strong coordination between education and industry is extremely important in the present era. The university’s objective is not merely to award degrees but to empower students with knowledge, skills, and practical experience. He said that the agreement with TCS will introduce students to modern technologies and industry practices while preparing them for future technological and employment-related challenges.

Chancellor Shri Prabhakar Singh described the agreement as an important initiative towards securing a bright future for students and said, “The purpose of education today is not merely to obtain a degree, but to transform knowledge into skills and skills into employment.” He urged students to make the most of this opportunity with full dedication and enthusiasm. He said that the partnership with a prestigious organization like TCS will provide students with modern technological knowledge, expert guidance, and practical experience while opening new avenues for employment opportunities.

Shri Prabhakar Singh further said that Sona Devi University will continue to promote such collaborations with reputed industries and institutions in the future so that students can be prepared in accordance with the rapidly changing technological landscape. He emphasized that, along with a strong academic foundation, practical skills and industry exposure will play an important role in making students self-reliant and capable.

On the occasion of the agreement, TCS representatives and officials Shri Prabhakar Pramanik and Shri Sancho Joseph were present. From the university, the agreement was concluded in the presence of Chancellor Shri Prabhakar Singh, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Braj Mohan Pat Pingua, Registrar Dr. Nit Nayana, Assistant Registrar and Placement Coordinator Mrs. Archana Singh, and Head of the Engineering Department Mrs. Pooja Tiwari.

On this occasion, Mr. S.K. Arif and Ms. Diptishikha Naskar from the Computer Science and BCA departments, along with assistant professors and faculty members from the Engineering, Computer Science, BCA, and other departments, were also present. Discussions were held between the university faculty and TCS representatives regarding the technical development of students, industry-oriented training, and the promotion of employability skills.

Sona Devi University believes that the agreement with TCS is not merely an academic partnership but a significant initiative that will provide a new direction to students’ knowledge, skills, and careers. The collaboration will help students progress from knowledge to skills, skills to employment, and employment to self-reliance, while laying a strong foundation for their bright future.
