Extensive and Intensive Public Awareness Campaign by NSS for the Mega Blood Donation Camp

With the aim of making the mega blood donation camp organized at Sona Devi University, Ghatsila, Jharkhand on 22nd December 2025 a historic success, the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the university is conducting a continuous, well-planned, and extensive public awareness campaign. Under this campaign, efforts are being made to spread the message of blood donation to every section of society. In this context, NSS volunteers organized a special public awareness program covering areas such as Maubhandar, Gurudwara Road, Dahigora, Circus Ground, and the Cultural Council. The main objective of this program was to make the general public aware of the importance, necessity, and social responsibility of blood donation and to encourage them to participate in this humanitarian act. The public awareness program was successfully conducted under the leadership of Dr. Neelmani Kumar, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences; Dr. Sivchandra Jha, NSS Program Officer; and Ms. Patatri Mali, Nodal Officer. During the program, NSS volunteers directly interacted with local citizens, youth, shopkeepers, and passersby, addressing various myths about blood donation with scientific facts. The volunteers clarified that blood donation is a completely safe process, which not only saves the lives of patients in need but also serves as an excellent example of an individual’s humanitarian duty toward society. On this occasion, Dr. Neelmani Kumar, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, said that blood donation is the highest form of human service. He emphasized that the camp organized by the university is an inspiring initiative to strengthen compassion, cooperation, and mutual responsibility in society and urged more people to participate in this noble cause. NSS Program Officer Dr. Shivchand Jha stated that the need for blood transcends caste, religion, or class. Blood donation is, in fact, life-giving, helping save the lives of strangers in emergency situations. He urged the youth to come forward and donate blood, becoming agents of positive change in society. He also highlighted that the core objective of NSS is to cultivate a sense of service, discipline, and social responsibility among young people. Nodal Officer Ms. Patatri Mali specifically addressed women and young girls, stating that raising awareness about blood donation is a pressing need. Active participation of women sends a positive message to society and helps dispel apprehensions surrounding blood donation. During the public awareness program, NSS volunteers distributed pamphlets, chanted slogans, and engaged in direct dialogue to inform people about the mega blood donation camp scheduled on 22nd December 2025 at Sona Devi University campus, urging maximum participation. Local citizens appreciated this humanitarian initiative and expressed their willingness to take part in the blood donation camp. Fourth Day of the Four-Day Annual Sports Festival “Ignite 2025” Concludes with Thrill, Enthusiasm, and Excellence

The fourth and final day of the four-day annual sports festival “Ignite 2025” at Sona Devi University, Ghatsila concluded with immense energy, competitive spirit, sportsmanship, and joy. From early morning, participants displayed great enthusiasm for the various events, and the entire university campus was immersed in a vibrant sporting atmosphere. The day began with the final cricket match, the most anticipated event of the entire sports festival. The thrilling contest between Warriors (Yellow) House and Sportans (Red) House kept spectators engaged until the very last ball. Owing to excellent team coordination, disciplined bowling, and determined batting, Warriors (Yellow) House emerged as the champions. Their performance stood as an inspiring example of teamwork, strategy, and discipline for all students. This was followed by the final matches of the Carrom competition, where chief referee Kishor Kumar Mahakur briefed the players on the rules and encouraged them. In the boys’ category, Knights (Blue) House, and in the girls’ category as well, Knights (Blue) House, secured impressive victories through superior strategy and self-control. Meanwhile, in the Chess competition, showcasing remarkable mental focus and strategic skill, Sportans (Red) House defeated Knights (Blue) House to claim the championship title. In the second phase, students demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm in events based on skill, balance, and physical ability. The Spoon Race, a highly popular and challenging event among female students, witnessed participants displaying exceptional patience and speed. In this event, Gayatri secured first place, Sanchita second, and Sharda third, delivering an outstanding performance. The Tug of War competition proved to be the most energetic and thrilling event on the university ground. Sports teacher Komal Kumari clearly explained the rules and ensured the event was conducted safely and smoothly. In the boys’ category, after an intense contest, Rangers (Green) House claimed first place through effective teamwork, followed by Knights (Blue) House in second and Sportans (Red) House in third place. The girls’ category also witnessed fierce competition, where Knights (Blue) House displayed the greatest strength and coordination to secure first place, with Warriors (Yellow) House finishing second and Sportans (Red) House third. These events vividly reflected the strong sports culture and unity among students at the university. During the valedictory session, a friendly match organized by university faculty and staff added a delightful and familial touch to the program. All participants took part purely for enjoyment, cooperation, harmony, and sportsmanship, without the pressure of competition. The match truly embodied the spirit of “Sports for Joy.” The final day of the four-day “Ignite 2025” festival was not only rich in sporting achievements but also reaffirmed that sports are not merely about competition, but a powerful medium for personality development, discipline, teamwork, and leadership. Grand Inauguration of the Four-Day Annual Sports Festival “IGNITE 2025”

The four-day annual sports festival “IGNITE 2025” commenced at Sona Devi University, Ghatsila with great enthusiasm, excitement, and a vibrant atmosphere. The entire university campus came alive with the spirit of sportsmanship, energy, and unity. Scheduled to run until 13 December, the grand event is being led by Sports In-charge Dr. Anil John. Addressing the students during the inauguration, he said that sports are the best medium for developing discipline, leadership, and team spirit. He encouraged all players to participate in every competition with full dedication and confidence. The Chief Guest and Vice Chancellor, Dr. Braj Mohan Pat Pingua, motivated the students during the opening session, saying, “IGNITE 2025 will elevate the sports culture of the university to a new height. Devrishi Kashyap of Sona Devi University Selected for Republic Day Parade 2026 in New Delhi

Devrishi Kashyap, a B.Tech third-semester student of Sona Devi University, Ghatsila, has been selected to participate in the Republic Day Parade 2026 in New Delhi. He earned this selection at the NCC RDC camp held in New Delhi. By representing the state of Jharkhand and Sona Devi University, he is set to bring pride and honour to both. Recently, Devrishi was named Best Cadet among 721 cadets in Jamshedpur and also received the Best Drill award during the NCC camp conducted for the selection of cadets for the RDC and the Army Camp (TSC) in New Delhi. • Students of the School of Engineering & Technology, Sona Devi University, Ghatsila visited the HCL Musabani Concentrator Plant for an industrial tour. • They learned about the scientific process of refining copper ore obtained from the mines. • They also understood the employment opportunities available in the industrial and technical sectors. Students of the School of Engineering & Technology, Sona Devi University, Ghatsila undertook an industrial visit today, 5 December 2025, to the Musabani Concentrator Plant of Hindustan Copper Limited’s Indian Copper Complex (ICC).The purpose of this educational tour was to introduce the students to the real working environment and technical processes of the mining and metallurgical industries. At this plant, students were informed about the scientific methods used for refining and beneficiation of copper ore obtained from the Surda, Rakha, and other mines, as well as techniques for obtaining pure copper. During the visit, HCL Deputy General Manager Mr. J.P. Mishra, Senior Officer Mr. M.Z. Khan, and Electrical Department representative Ms. Shweta Kumari explained to the students various aspects of plant operations — including crushing, grinding, flotation processes, quality control, and safety standards. They also elaborated on workplace safety procedures and the overall industrial environment. The students got an opportunity to directly understand the practical applications of mining, mechanical, electrical, and process engineering. This experience enhanced their technical knowledge, industrial perspective, and understanding of future employment possibilities. Prof. Dr. Braj Mohan Pat Pingua Appointed as the New Vice-Chancellor of Sona Devi University

Prof. Dr. Braj Mohan Pat Pingua has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Sona Devi University. Dr. Braj Mohan has served as a senior scientist at the Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research (CIMFR), CSIR Dhanbad. He has extensive experience working as a professor there. He is an expert in the fields of material science, mining, and related industries. During his tenure, Dr. Braj Mohan formulated standards for new testing processes for mining explosives and high-energetic materials. He also supervised excavation projects and other research activities. Dr. Braj Mohan has presented dozens of papers at national and international levels, facilitated several MoUs, and executed numerous projects. With his contributions, Sona Devi University is expected to achieve new heights in the field of research and innovation. A six-member Search-cum-Selection Committee was constituted by Sona Devi University for the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor, in accordance with UGC guidelines and the directions of the Government of Jharkhand. This committee included a UGC representative, the Joint Secretary of Technical Education (Government of Jharkhand), a professor from NIT Jamshedpur, the former Pro Vice Chancellor of KOLHAN University, and a retired judge. On November 28, 2025, an impactful awareness program was organized on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) at the Swami Vivekananda Auditorium, Sona Devi University, Ghatsila. The main objective of the program was to make the university campus drug-free and to educate the youth about the harmful effects of substance abuse. During the program, students were administered the pledge: “I will not indulge in drugs, nor will I allow anyone else to do so.” With firm determination, the students vowed to lead a drug-free life. Students were elaborately informed about: The students actively participated and expressed their commitment to understanding their responsibility in eradicating drug abuse from the roots. One-Day International Conference on “India’s Role in Global Growth: Sustainability in the 21st Century” Organized at Sona Devi University

A one-day international conference on the theme “India’s Role in Global Growth: Sustainability in the 21st Century” was organized on 22 November at Sona Devi University. The event was jointly conducted by SDU School of Commerce & Management and SDU School of Computer Science & IT. On this occasion, the chief guest, Prof. Dr. Shukla Mohanty, released the conference souvenir. Dr. Mohanty has served as the Vice-Chancellor of Kolhan University, Chaibasa, and has also been appointed as the Academic Advisor to the Governor of Odisha. In this capacity, she has contributed significantly to the development of education. Dr. Debasish Pradhan, Professor at XLRI Jamshedpur, attended the international seminar as the distinguished guest. More than 200 research scholars from Jharkhand and various other states presented their research papers in both online and offline modes. During the conference, Dr. Gulab Singh Azad, Registrar of Sona Devi University, highlighted the various academic activities undertaken by SDU since its establishment and discussed India’s contribution to the field of education. Speaking about SDU’s first international seminar, he mentioned that the university is actively working towards sustainable development through optimal resource utilization, energy conservation, and human resource development, thereby contributing to holistic and balanced growth. Dr. Pawan Kumar Singh, Director of IIM Tiruchirappalli, shared his thoughts on sustainable development through a video message. He emphasized that sustainability is a critical issue and that researchers must explore new dimensions while considering economic, environmental, and social aspects. XLRI Professor Dr. Debasish Pradhan discussed growth and quality development and stressed the need for optimal resource utilization in a rapidly expanding economy. Prabhat Kumar stated that everyone is responsible for sustainable development. He added that the rapid progress of the country signifies sustainable growth and that the states play a vital role in national development. He emphasized that Jharkhand is known for its mining, mineral resources, automobile industry, and tourism, and these sectors must be developed sustainably with long-term vision. Prof. Ravindra Nath Sharma, Head of the Department of Anthropology and Tribal Studies Center at Central University of Jharkhand, also shared his insights. Dr. Debasish Pradhan from Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur; Mr. Prabhat Kumar from CII Ranchi; Dr. Kuldeep Bauddh, Associate Professor at Banaras Hindu University; and Dr. Divyanshu Kumar also enriched the research scholars with their valuable perspectives on India’s role in sustainable development. In the international seminar, Dr. Pranav Kumar from the Institute of Material Science, Stewart University, Germany, and Dr. Arungam G. Seethaparam from Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, shared their thoughts online.
