Holi Milan Ceremony Celebrated at Sona Devi University, Ghatsila

The Holi Milan ceremony was organized today by the university administration at the sports ground of Sona Devi University, Ghatsila. All officials, deans, and staff enthusiastically celebrated Holi at this event. The students also enjoyed the celebration in a respectful manner. They first took blessings from their teachers and then applied Abir and Gulal to each other, exchanging greetings for the festival of colors. People danced for a long time to the tunes of Holi songs. The festival of colors, Holi, is celebrated on the full moon day in the month of Phagun. This year, the university administration has declared a holiday from March 12 to March 15. All activities at the university will resume as usual from March 17. Several distinguished guests also attended the event and were given special hospitality by the university administration. A workshop was organized at Sona Devi University on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

  “Women Must Write Their Own History” – Dr. Kavita Parmar “To Understand a Country’s Condition, Look at the Status of Its Women” – Nishat Ambar, Ghatshila Circle Officer A workshop was organized at the auditorium of Sona Devi University, Ghatshila, to honor women on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The seminar, titled “The Role of Women in Nation Building,” featured Dr. Kavita Parmar, a social worker, as the chief guest. Dr. Kavita Parmar began by discussing the rights already granted to women. She emphasized that, in India, women have always played the role of givers. However, when this role of giver undergoes a change, it becomes a matter of concern. She further stated that the nation needs women to step forward and play a significant role in shaping society. Women must write their own history. She stressed that only when women are truly educated and aware will the country progress. Setting personal goals and striving towards them is essential for national development. Women should take full advantage of the opportunities available to them. The event was also graced by Nishat Ambar, Ghatshila Circle Officer, as the special guest. Speaking on women empowerment, she said that a truly empowered woman is one who is capable of making her own decisions. She emphasized that women must be recognized as assets to the nation, as only then can they contribute effectively to its development. She added that if one wishes to understand the condition of a country, they should look at the status of its women. On this significant occasion, Sushila Tudu, the Block Head of Ghatshila, expressed her thoughts about women, comparing them to the protective shade of a family. She urged students to focus on discipline. Before this, Registrar Dr. Gulab Singh Azad welcomed the distinguished women guests, referring to them as “gems.” He shared insights about the establishment of Sona Devi University and explained the purpose of celebrating Women’s Day. Discussing the “Accelerate Action” theme, he stated that this day is celebrated to accelerate efforts toward protecting women’s rights, ensuring their dignity, freedom, and education. He pointed out that, despite their significant contributions, women’s achievements are often not widely acknowledged in society. The goal of International Women’s Day is to bring these contributions to the forefront. Dr. Azad further mentioned that even today, women continue to face discrimination, inequality, and various societal evils. He emphasized that for the nation to progress, women must be granted equal rights as men. He urged students to practice equality in their daily lives by encouraging and respecting their female peers and colleagues, ensuring they receive the support they deserve. Chancellor Shri Prabhakar Singh motivated students through a storytelling session. He highlighted the increasing presence of women in educational institutions across the country. The event commenced with a traditional prayer and lamp lighting ceremony. National Pharmacy Education Day Celebrated with Grandeur at Sona Devi University, Ghatshila

The MoU signed between Sona Devi University and Karim City College, Sakchi, Jamshedpur.

An MoU was signed for a period of five years between Sona Devi University, Ghatshila, and Karim City College, Sakchi, Jamshedpur. The MoU was signed by the Vice-Chancellor of Sona Devi University and the Principal of Karim City College. Under this agreement, both institutions will collaborate on faculty regulations, student regulations, workshops, and value-added professional courses. They will exchange information, knowledge, and resources. Both institutions will work together, utilizing each other’s resources, and share educational activities, research, teaching, training, and course materials. Short-term certificate courses will also be conducted, and for this, both institutions will be able to invite each other’s faculty and students. Joint seminars and workshops will also be organized. There will be an exchange of faculty and students for research and teaching activities for a specified period. This will promote innovation and entrepreneurship development among students and faculty members. Both institutions will also work together in other areas of mutual interest by mutual consent. As is known, Karim City College was established in 1961 by the late Syed Tafazzul Karim in Jamshedpur with the aim of providing higher education to students from weaker and marginalized sections. This college is permanently affiliated with Kolhan University, Chaibasa. On the other hand, Sona Devi University was established in Ghatshila by the Sona Devi Memorial Educational Foundation Trust. It came into existence through a notification issued by the Jharkhand Government on 17th February 2023. Operating under the UGC Act of 1956, Sona Devi University has ten schools and offers over 63 courses. Students currently pursue diploma, B.Tech, undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. courses here.

National Science Day Celebrated Today at Sona Devi University School of Agriculture Science Team Secured First Position A Science Exhibition-cum-Poster Competition was organized today at Sona Devi University, Ghatsila Campus on the occasion of National Science Day. This year, the theme of National Science Day is “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat.” The university students participated enthusiastically in this competition. Dr. Khurshid Ahmad Khan, Head of the Department of Chemistry at Karim City College, encouraged the students, emphasizing the importance of systematic planning in understanding science. He stated that accurate information and proper knowledge are essential for success. Students should utilize their full potential and plan their studies or work systematically, as regular practice is the key to success. Dr. Khan also visited the exhibition and motivated the students. National Science Day is a significant day dedicated to science, commemorating India’s first major scientific discovery. It is celebrated to raise awareness about science and promote its growth. National Science Day is observed in memory of the great scientist C.V. Raman, who discovered the Raman Effect. For this groundbreaking discovery, he was honored with the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930. In this Science Exhibition-cum-Poster Competition, students created eleven models and several posters on different themes, featuring slogans and useful information. The School of Agriculture Science team emerged as the winners with their model based on the theme “Integrated Farming.” The team was led by Monali Mohanta, Rakhi Mahato, Anshu Kumari, Swati Kumari, and Shreshtha Srivastava. The runner-up position was secured by the Diploma in Mechanical Engineering team, who designed a Fire-Fighting Robot model. The third prize was awarded to the B.Tech students, who created an impressive model on the theme “Pollution Control.” Students from other departments also showcased their models with great enthusiasm and pledged to perform even better next time. On this occasion, university officials, faculty members, and staff encouraged and motivated the students. In the Poster Making Competition, students demonstrated their creativity. The winning team conveyed a message through their poster on “Stop Pollution and Save Nature.” The runner-up team illustrated the Aquatic Ecosystem on their poster. The third prize in the poster competition was awarded to a poster based on the theme “Artificial Intelligence.”

Timely CPR Can Save a Victim’s Life – Dr. Pankaj Sachan, CII, Young Indians Federation At the auditorium of Sona Devi University, Ghatsila, representatives of CII, Young Indians Federation conducted training for students on life-saving techniques in emergency situations. Dr. Pankaj Sachan from the federation stated that their organization, Young Indians Federation, is working to raise awareness on topics such as innovation, climate change, and road accidents. Mr. Sachan mentioned that their organization runs the Farishta program, which provides emergency assistance to victims of road accidents. He explained that an unconscious person’s life can be saved by administering CPR within 10 minutes in an emergency. The first step is to identify the victim, check their pulse, and monitor their breathing process before administering CPR. The students were also trained in CPR techniques. The representatives of the organization provided in-depth information about heart attacks and cardiac arrest. Mr. Sachan also shared insights on paralysis attacks, explaining the symptoms and emphasizing that a patient must be admitted to a hospital within an hour and a half for proper treatment. Additionally, he provided guidance on safely transporting road accident victims to hospitals or trauma centers. He explained the process of dressing wounds to reduce blood loss and offered information on treating burn injuries and assisting burn victims. 1 min read Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of learning, was worshiped on the occasion of Basant Panchami at Sona Devi University, Ghatshila. सोना देवी विश्वविद्यालय, घाटशिला में बसंत पंचमी के मौके पर विद्या की देवी माता सरस्वती की पूजा अर्चना की गई। इस मौके पर विश्वविद्यालय परिसर में माता सरस्वती की प्रतिमा स्थापित कर पंडित प्रशांत पांडे के वैदिक मंत्रोच्चारण के बीच हंसावाहिनी की पूजा अर्चना की गई। इस मौके पर विश्वविद्यालय के कुलाधिपति श्री प्रभाकर सिंह , कुलसचिव डॉक्टर गुलाब सिंह आजाद के साथ-साथ विश्वविद्यालय के शिक्षक व शिक्षकेत्तर कर्मचारियों के अलावा काफी संख्या में विद्यार्थियों ने विद्या की आराध्य देवी की पूजा अर्चना की और महा आरती में भाग लिया। इस मौके पर हवन भी आयोजित किया गया। सरस्वती पूजा को देखते हुए विश्वविद्यालय को प्राकृतिक तरीके से अत्यंत आकर्षक रूप से सजाया गया था। प्रतिमा के आसपास फूलों और पत्तों के सामंजस्य के साथ सजावट की गई थी। आरती के बाद हवन और इसके बाद महाप्रसाद भी वितरित किया गया जिसे सभी ने सामूहिक रूप से ग्रहण किया।

Today, on the occasion of the eighth death anniversary of the late Smt. Sona Devi, a lecture series was inaugurated in the auditorium of Sona Devi University. On this occasion, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Dr. J.P. Mishra, said that we have gathered here today as an inspiration from the late Singh couple. It is due to the values instilled by the late Sukhdev Singh Ji and the late Sona Devi Ji that we have reached this point. Through a story, the Vice-Chancellor explained that a person should perform their duties in such a way that they bring happiness not only to themselves but also to others. The Sona Devi family is well-known for their contributions to society. Therefore, the students of Sona Devi University should also shape their personalities in such a way that their identity is defined by their actions. To be successful in life, one’s deeds must be commendable, and one should inspire others to do good work. The university’s registrar, Dr. Gulab Singh Azad, stated that such events are held in honor of fortunate individuals. This lecture series will also benefit our students. Dr. Azad emphasized that to achieve immortality, one must be filled with a spirit of sacrifice and must work for the welfare of society, setting aside personal ego. The lives of the late Sukhdev Singh and Sona Devi are a living example of this. Their journey was full of struggles and inspiration, yet they made invaluable contributions to social service and the development of education. The registrar further said that Mr. Singh was truly a great individual. He always completed the work he started. Drawing a comparison between the revered Sukhdev Singh and a lion, Mr. Azad highlighted his unique qualities and explained how he achieved success with complete focus and careful planning. Encouraging the students, he said that whatever they do in life should have a distinct identity. It was by following in their footsteps that our Chancellor, Mr. Prabhakar Singh, established Sona Devi University. The late Sona Devi’s life was inspirational; she was a symbol of compassion, kindness, and love. Her dedication to social service and education was remarkable. She viewed education as a sacred duty and made unparalleled contributions to education and women’s empowerment. Mr. Azad urged everyone to follow her path and strive to become successful individuals. Expressing his condolences for the departed soul, Chancellor Mr. Prabhakar Singh emphasized that it is essential for all of us to learn about the personality and deeds of the Singh couple, who served as the inspiration for the establishment of Sona Devi University. They never compromised on quality, were straightforward, and deeply committed to social causes. Their ideals were of the highest order, and they respected differing opinions. We must keep their principles in mind as we strive for success in life. Chancellor Prabhakar Singh also shared that under the social responsibility initiatives of the Sona Devi Memorial Educational Foundation Trust, eye camps, blood donation drives, and blanket distribution programs are conducted from time to time. International Interdisciplinary Seminar on “Dimensions of Indian Knowledge Systems” Concludes Successfully

The two-day International Interdisciplinary Seminar on “Dimensions of Indian Knowledge Systems: Theory and Trends” concluded on December 30. This seminar was organized by Sona Devi University, Ghatsila, at Dr. Jagannath Mishra College, Jasidih, in Deoghar district, with academic support from IGNOU Regional Center, Deoghar. The event was jointly hosted in collaboration with Dr. Jagannath Mishra College, Jasidih, Anuchintan Foundation, Khagaria, Bihar, and Shubha Devi Memorial Trust. While inaugurating the seminar, the Chancellor of Sona Devi University, Shri Prabhakar Singh, stated that such seminars pave the way for the future of researchers. The Vice-Chancellor of Sona Devi University, Dr. J.P. Mishra, elaborated on the objectives of the seminar, emphasizing the importance of research quality and its significance. Former Professor of Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Darbhanga, Bihar, Dr. Sanjay Jha, as the keynote speaker, shed light on Mithila’s contribution to knowledge. Dr. R.K. Shah, Research Director of Rajarshi Janak University, Janakpur Dham, Nepal, and former Professor of Salale University, Ethiopia (Africa), Dr. Manoj Kumar Mishra, also shared their valuable insights on Indian Knowledge Systems.
