Free Eye Care Camp “Netra Jyoti Yagya” Organized in the Sacred Memory of Late Sona Devi

With the support of Sona Devi Memorial Educational Foundation Trust and Sona Devi University, Ghatsila, a Netra Jyoti Yagya (Eye Light Camp) has been organized in the sacred memory of Late Sona Devi. In this eye medical camp, eye patients will receive free eye treatment, and free eye surgeries with lens implantation will also be performed. Renowned doctors Dr. B. P. Singh, Dr. Poonam Singh, Dr. Bharti Sharma, Dr. Vivek Kedia, and Dr. Anand Sushrut will examine the eyes of patients on 24 January 2026. Based on medical requirements, eye surgeries along with lens implantation will be carried out on 25 January 2026. On 26 January, all treated patients will be respectfully discharged in the afternoon after completion of their treatment. This eye medical camp is being organized at Ram Manohar Lohia Netralaya, Bagbera, Jamshedpur, with the cooperation of the Indian Red Cross Society, East Singhbhum. Saraswati Puja Concluded at Sona Devi University, Ghatsila with the Confluence of Faith, Culture, and Knowledge

At the serene and sacred campus of Sona Devi University, Ghatsila, the worship of Goddess Saraswati—the presiding deity of knowledge, wisdom, intellect, and the arts—was performed in a grand manner with full rituals, Vedic chants, and deep reverence. Mr. Rahul Kumar Shaw, Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacy at Sona Devi University, Ghatsila, has achieved a significant academic milestone by co-authoring a textbook titled “A Text Book of Pharmaceutics–I (According to PCI Syllabus)”, intended for B. Pharm First Semester students. Mr. Rahul Kumar Shaw holds a Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) in Pharmaceutics and is actively involved in teaching and research in the field of pharmaceutical sciences. The second annual festival “Shankhnaad 2.0” of Sona Devi University was celebrated with great enthusiasm and grandeur.

On this occasion, the Chancellor of Sona Devi University, Shri Prabhakar Singh, said that to move ahead in life, one must be serious about education. Remembering the late Education Minister Ramdas Soren, he said that Ramdas Soren supported him at every step and his dream of educating students of this region will surely be fulfilled.Shri Singh also informed that apart from the government’s E-Kalyan Scheme, Sona Devi University is running its own SDUSAT Scholarship Scheme. Under this scheme, students can complete their entire education by paying the fee of only one semester. He emphasized that no needy student’s education will now be discontinued due to financial constraints. The Chief Guest of Shankhnaad 2.0, Honorable Ghatshila MLA Shri Somes Chandra Soren, said that his father and former minister, late Ramdas Soren, wanted to make this region an educational hub. He mentioned that a degree college was established in Musabani by his father. He also said that his father had a deep love for languages and that Raghunath Murmu University would be established for linguistic education. Shri Somes Chandra Soren expressed his commitment to making efforts to bring a medical college to Ghatsila. Mega Blood Donation Camp 2025

Mega Blood Donation Camp Organized at Sona Devi University, Ghatsila

A blood donation camp was organized today, 22 December 2025, at the Vivekananda Auditorium of Sona Devi University, Ghatsila, in the sacred memory of Late Mother Smt. Sona Devi Ji. This mega blood donation camp successfully collected a total of 103 units of blood. The Chancellor of Sona Devi University, Shri Prabhakar Singh, also donated blood himself and encouraged all participants. Many respected citizens from the Ghatsila region voluntarily participated in the camp. University officials, staff members, and a large number of students from Sona Devi University also actively donated blood. On this occasion, Ms. Kumari Nikita, Assistant Professor, Department of Sanskrit, addressed common myths related to blood donation and raised awareness among the people. She motivated everyone to donate blood and explained that any healthy person, whether male or female, can donate blood. She emphasized that blood donation improves the donor’s health, helps in the formation of new blood, strengthens immunity, and can save the life of someone in need. She further stated that every healthy person can donate blood at least four times a year and administered a pledge to the attendees to contribute regularly toward saving precious lives. The camp was organized under the aegis of the Sona Devi Memorial Educational Foundation Trust, with the cooperation of the Indian Red Cross Society, East Singhbhum, Jamshedpur, and the Jamshedpur Blood Center. All donors were first registered, followed by hemoglobin testing. Only those with appropriate hemoglobin levels were allowed to donate blood after a blood pressure check. Extensive and Intensive Public Awareness Campaign by NSS for the Mega Blood Donation Camp

With the aim of making the mega blood donation camp organized at Sona Devi University, Ghatsila, Jharkhand on 22nd December 2025 a historic success, the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the university is conducting a continuous, well-planned, and extensive public awareness campaign. Under this campaign, efforts are being made to spread the message of blood donation to every section of society. In this context, NSS volunteers organized a special public awareness program covering areas such as Maubhandar, Gurudwara Road, Dahigora, Circus Ground, and the Cultural Council. The main objective of this program was to make the general public aware of the importance, necessity, and social responsibility of blood donation and to encourage them to participate in this humanitarian act. The fourth and final day of the four-day annual sports festival “Ignite 2025” at Sona Devi University, Ghatsila concluded with immense energy, competitive spirit, sportsmanship, and joy. From early morning, participants displayed great enthusiasm for the various events, and the entire university campus was immersed in a vibrant sporting atmosphere. The day began with the final cricket match, the most anticipated event of the entire sports festival. The thrilling contest between Warriors (Yellow) House and Sportans (Red) House kept spectators engaged until the very last ball. Owing to excellent team coordination, disciplined bowling, and determined batting, Warriors (Yellow) House emerged as the champions. Their performance stood as an inspiring example of teamwork, strategy, and discipline for all students. This was followed by the final matches of the Carrom competition, where chief referee Kishor Kumar Mahakur briefed the players on the rules and encouraged them. In the boys’ category, Knights (Blue) House, and in the girls’ category as well, Knights (Blue) House, secured impressive victories through superior strategy and self-control. Meanwhile, in the Chess competition, showcasing remarkable mental focus and strategic skill, Sportans (Red) House defeated Knights (Blue) House to claim the championship title. In the second phase, students demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm in events based on skill, balance, and physical ability. The Spoon Race, a highly popular and challenging event among female students, witnessed participants displaying exceptional patience and speed. In this event, Gayatri secured first place, Sanchita second, and Sharda third, delivering an outstanding performance. The Tug of War competition proved to be the most energetic and thrilling event on the university ground. In the boys’ category, after an intense contest, Rangers (Green) House claimed first place through effective teamwork, followed by Knights (Blue) House in second and Sportans (Red) House in third place. The girls’ category also witnessed fierce competition, where Knights (Blue) House displayed the greatest strength and coordination to secure first place, with Warriors (Yellow) House finishing second and Sportans (Red) House third. These events vividly reflected the strong sports culture and unity among students at the university. During the valedictory session, a friendly match organized by university faculty and staff added a delightful and familial touch to the program.
