Devrishi Kashyap of Sona Devi University Selected for Republic Day Parade 2026 in New Delhi

Devrishi Kashyap, a B.Tech third-semester student of Sona Devi University, Ghatsila, has been selected to participate in the Republic Day Parade 2026 in New Delhi. He earned this selection at the NCC RDC camp held in New Delhi. By representing the state of Jharkhand and Sona Devi University, he is set to bring pride and honour to both. Recently, Devrishi was named Best Cadet among 721 cadets in Jamshedpur and also received the Best Drill award during the NCC camp conducted for the selection of cadets for the RDC and the Army Camp (TSC) in New Delhi. The management of Sona Devi University expressed their delight over his achievement, and Registrar Dr. Gulab Singh Azad extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Devrishi Kashyap.

Industrial Visit by Students of School of Engineering & Technology 2025

Industrial Visit by Students of School of Engineering & Technology, Sona Devi University, Ghatsila

• Students of the School of Engineering & Technology, Sona Devi University, Ghatsila visited the HCL Musabani Concentrator Plant for an industrial tour. • They learned about the scientific process of refining copper ore obtained from the mines. • They also understood the employment opportunities available in the industrial and technical sectors. Students of the School of Engineering & Technology, Sona Devi University, Ghatsila undertook an industrial visit today, 5 December 2025, to the Musabani Concentrator Plant of Hindustan Copper Limited’s Indian Copper Complex (ICC).The purpose of this educational tour was to introduce the students to the real working environment and technical processes of the mining and metallurgical industries. At this plant, students were informed about the scientific methods used for refining and beneficiation of copper ore obtained from the Surda, Rakha, and other mines, as well as techniques for obtaining pure copper. During the visit, HCL Deputy General Manager Mr. J.P. Mishra, Senior Officer Mr. M.Z. Khan, and Electrical Department representative Ms. Shweta Kumari explained to the students various aspects of plant operations — including crushing, grinding, flotation processes, quality control, and safety standards. They also elaborated on workplace safety procedures and the overall industrial environment. The students got an opportunity to directly understand the practical applications of mining, mechanical, electrical, and process engineering. This experience enhanced their technical knowledge, industrial perspective, and understanding of future employment possibilities. During the educational visit, Head of the Engineering Department Ms. Pooja Tiwari, Head of the Mechanical Department Mr. Vinay Prakash Chaudhary, and representatives from the Training & Placement Cell, Mr. Siddhant Kumar and Dr. Neelmani Kumar, were also present.

Prof. Dr. Braj Mohan Pat Pingua Appointed as the New Vice-Chancellor of Sona Devi University

Prof. Dr. Braj Mohan Pat Pingua has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Sona Devi University. Dr. Braj Mohan has served as a senior scientist at the Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research (CIMFR), CSIR Dhanbad. He has extensive experience working as a professor there. He is an expert in the fields of material science, mining, and related industries. During his tenure, Dr. Braj Mohan formulated standards for new testing processes for mining explosives and high-energetic materials. He also supervised excavation projects and other research activities. Dr. Braj Mohan has presented dozens of papers at national and international levels, facilitated several MoUs, and executed numerous projects. With his contributions, Sona Devi University is expected to achieve new heights in the field of research and innovation. A six-member Search-cum-Selection Committee was constituted by Sona Devi University for the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor, in accordance with UGC guidelines and the directions of the Government of Jharkhand. This committee included a UGC representative, the Joint Secretary of Technical Education (Government of Jharkhand), a professor from NIT Jamshedpur, the former Pro Vice Chancellor of KOLHAN University, and a retired judge. In this process, six professors from various universities across the country participated in the interview, among whom Prof. Dr. Braj Mohan Pat Pingua was selected.

Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) 2025

Awareness Program Organized on the Occasion of the Anniversary of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA)

On November 28, 2025, an impactful awareness program was organized on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) at the Swami Vivekananda Auditorium, Sona Devi University, Ghatsila. The main objective of the program was to make the university campus drug-free and to educate the youth about the harmful effects of substance abuse. During the program, students were administered the pledge: “I will not indulge in drugs, nor will I allow anyone else to do so.” With firm determination, the students vowed to lead a drug-free life. Students were elaborately informed about: The students actively participated and expressed their commitment to understanding their responsibility in eradicating drug abuse from the roots. The program was successfully conducted by NSS Program Officer, Ms. Patatri Mali, who inspired the younger generation to take an active role in quitting drugs and preventing others from using them.

Jamshedpur: At the 16th State-Level Archery Competition organized by the Jharkhand Archery Association and sponsored by Tata Steel, held from 14th to 17th November at the Archery Ground of JRD Tata Complex, Anshuman Singh, a student of BBA at the School of Commerce and Management, Sona Devi University (Sona Devi University), showcased an outstanding performance, bringing pride to the institution and the city. The competition was held at the archery ground of the JRD Tata Sports Complex. Anshuman Singh, a BBA student (Batch 2024-2028, Semester 3) of the School of Commerce and Management, delivered an impressive performance at this prestigious event and won a bronze medal in the Compound 50-Meter Mixed Team category. This significant achievement is credited to Anshuman’s relentless efforts, his dedicated coach Harendra Singh, and the skillful guidance of Dr. Monika Singh, HOD of the Department of Management. Constitution Day 2025 Marked with Grand Celebration at Sona Devi University

Sona Devi University, Ghatsila (Jharkhand), celebrated Constitution Day on 26 November 2025 with great dignity, respect, and enthusiasm. The special event, organized in the Swami Vivekananda Auditorium of the university, witnessed the active and remarkable presence of students, teachers, heads of departments, deans, officials, and staff members. During the program, detailed discussions were held on important topics such as “The Constitutional Journey and Development,” the significance of the Indian Constitution, Fundamental Rights, Fundamental Duties, and the soul of the Constitution—the Preamble. The speakers shed inspiring light on the drafting process of the Constitution, its decisive role in strengthening Indian democracy, and the responsibilities of citizens. The atmosphere became even more inspiring when all attendees collectively took an oath to uphold and follow the Constitution and its core values. One-Day International Conference on “India’s Role in Global Growth: Sustainability in the 21st Century” Organized at Sona Devi University

A one-day international conference on the theme “India’s Role in Global Growth: Sustainability in the 21st Century” was organized on 22 November at Sona Devi University. The event was jointly conducted by SDU School of Commerce & Management and SDU School of Computer Science & IT. On this occasion, the chief guest, Prof. Dr. Shukla Mohanty, released the conference souvenir. Dr. Mohanty has served as the Vice-Chancellor of Kolhan University, Chaibasa, and has also been appointed as the Academic Advisor to the Governor of Odisha. In this capacity, she has contributed significantly to the development of education. Dr. Debasish Pradhan, Professor at XLRI Jamshedpur, attended the international seminar as the distinguished guest. More than 200 research scholars from Jharkhand and various other states presented their research papers in both online and offline modes. During the conference, Dr. Gulab Singh Azad, Registrar of Sona Devi University, highlighted the various academic activities undertaken by SDU since its establishment and discussed India’s contribution to the field of education. Speaking about SDU’s first international seminar, he mentioned that the university is actively working towards sustainable development through optimal resource utilization, energy conservation, and human resource development, thereby contributing to holistic and balanced growth. Dr. Pawan Kumar Singh, Director of IIM Tiruchirappalli, shared his thoughts on sustainable development through a video message. He emphasized that sustainability is a critical issue and that researchers must explore new dimensions while considering economic, environmental, and social aspects. Dr. Mrinal Gaurav, Assistant Professor at Yogoda Satsang College, also expressed his views on sustainable development. Through an audio-visual presentation, he highlighted the importance of public participation, economic activities, and resource efficiency in the 21st century. XLRI Professor Dr. Debasish Pradhan discussed growth and quality development and stressed the need for optimal resource utilization in a rapidly expanding economy. Prabhat Kumar stated that everyone is responsible for sustainable development. He added that the rapid progress of the country signifies sustainable growth and that the states play a vital role in national development. He emphasized that Jharkhand is known for its mining, mineral resources, automobile industry, and tourism, and these sectors must be developed sustainably with long-term vision. Prof. Ravindra Nath Sharma, Head of the Department of Anthropology and Tribal Studies Center at Central University of Jharkhand, also shared his insights. Dr. Debasish Pradhan from Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur; Mr. Prabhat Kumar from CII Ranchi; Dr. Kuldeep Bauddh, Associate Professor at Banaras Hindu University; and Dr. Divyanshu Kumar also enriched the research scholars with their valuable perspectives on India’s role in sustainable development. Empowering Health Professionals as Advocates of Vaccination at Sona Devi University

Sona Devi University organized a series of events on the occasion of National Week to highlight the role of health professionals in vaccination advocacy. The main program, held at the university’s Vivekananda Auditorium, was attended by Mr. Dharmendra Singh, a member of the Jharkhand State Council, as the chief guest. Mr. Singh is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Council of India and the President of the Singhbhum Pharmacists Association. On this occasion, Mr. Dharmendra Singh shared his views on the topic of Transforming Health Professionals into Advocates of Vaccination. He stated that since the COVID-19 pandemic, health professionals are now permitted to administer injections. Considering the crucial role they played during the pandemic, this decision was taken. Highlighting the objectives of the National Week, Mr. Singh emphasized that health professionals should work towards spreading awareness about vaccines among the public. He advised that Sona Devi University should enhance its capacity for better training and suggested establishing a Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra within the university premises, which would provide students practical opportunities to engage in vaccination advocacy. On the occasion, Sona Devi University’s Chancellor, Mr. Prabhakar Singh, stated that the university is continuously striving for excellence. Efforts are being made to ensure the holistic development of students. In alignment with government policies, IK S classes are conducted to build character among students, enabling them to contribute honestly to society and emerge as responsible citizens capable of making meaningful contributions socially, culturally, and educationally. The University Registrar, Prof. Dr. Gulab Singh Azad, mentioned that students organized several awareness programs during the week to educate the public about the important role of health professionals. Under the leadership of Principal Sudhanshu Shandilya and other faculty members, students visited the Community Health Center in Musabani, where they received detailed information about vaccine storage and usage from Dr. Vinay Kumar. Dr. Azad encouraged students to pursue quality education and fulfill their societal responsibilities whenever given a chance. Various competition winners were awarded certificates during the event. The program began with the lighting of the lamp followed by Ganesh Vandana and concluded with the national anthem. Students showcased their creativity through cultural performances and participated in activities such as quiz competitions, poster-making competitions, and field and hospital visits—all emphasizing the growing role of health professionals as advocates of vaccination. National Week is celebrated every year in India during the third week of November under the leadership of the Indian Association. Sona Devi University Signs Landmark MoU with Intel to Boost AI Education

Ltd. at the AI Impact Festival 2025 held in New Delhi• Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan and Group Captain Shri Subhanshu Shukla inaugurated the AI Impact Festival 2025• Plan to launch “AI for All” An MoU was signed yesterday between Sona Devi University, Ghatsila, and Intel Technology India Private Limited during the AI Impact Festival 2025 held in New Delhi. The conference was inaugurated by Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan and Group Captain Shri Subhanshu Shukla. The MoU was signed in the presence of Union Secretary Shri S. Krishnan, Additional Secretary to the Government of India Shri Abhishek Singh, Intel Foundation Global Head Ms. Sarah Kemp, and Intel India’s Shri Santosh Viswanathan. In February 2026, the Government of India will organize a national conference in Delhi for all stakeholders and researchers involved in the field of electronics and information technology. The objective is to launch “AI for All,” supported by NITI Aayog, Atal Innovation Mission, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Electronics & IT, and others. The MoU between Sona Devi University and Intel Technology India Pvt. Ltd. was signed by Ms. Shweta Khurana, Senior Director, Government Partnerships & International Government Affairs, Asia Pacific & Japan, Intel Initiatives, on behalf of Intel, and by Shri Prabhakar Singh on behalf of Sona Devi University. Intel Technology India Pvt. Ltd., based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, operates several units across the country. The agreement will be effective from 01 December 2025 and remain valid until 30 November 2027. Both institutions will jointly promote AI-based programs, design and implement curricula, award certifications, and work toward enhancing digital literacy. They will also run Faculty Development Programs to empower all stakeholders in the use of digital technologies. Each party will bear its own expenses in matters related to this MoU. Neither party will make any public announcement regarding the MoU or its contents without prior written consent from the other. Both parties have agreed to collaborate on the following proposal: The two institutions will work together to launch Intel’s “AI for Future Workforce” program in India — a program aimed at developing a digital-first mindset and digital readiness.The Intel AI for Future Workforce initiative has the potential to equip future workers with essential AI skills needed to thrive in the digital economy. Its objective is to develop a strong understanding of AI and focuses on: • Simplifying AI, building technical confidence, and enabling learners to independently apply AI skills.• Enhancing employability for AI-related jobs by developing essential technological, career development, and social skills.• Demonstrating employability through AI projects showcasing industrial and societal impact. For the Future Workforce Program, Intel may localize AI content for the Indian context. Intel will co-facilitate hosting the program on Sona Devi University’s website, support the university in successful implementation, organize orientation sessions for university officials, build capacities among identified trainers, jointly award co-branded certificates to trained students, and create pathways for student employment in relevant industries. Sona Devi University may undertake the following tasks:• Develop certificate, diploma, or degree programs based on the deployment model.• Identify and nominate faculty members for “Train-the-Trainer” programs.• Facilitate the hosting of the program on the university website. It also develops network interface controllers, flash memory, SSDs, and software. Intel Technology India Pvt. Ltd. is a private company incorporated on 03-01-1997. It is classified as a non-government company and registered with RoC-Bangalore. Sona Devi University was established in Ghatsila by the Sona Devi Memorial Educational Foundation Trust. The university came into existence through a notification issued by the Government of Jharkhand on 17 February 2023. It is also recognized under Article 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956 by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi. Under Section 12 of the Sona Devi University Act 2022, the Hon’ble Governor of Jharkhand appointed Shri Prabhakar Singh, Chairman & Founder of Sona Devi Memorial Educational Foundation Trust, as the first Chancellor of the university, based on a panel of three names recommended by the state government. Sona Devi University, governed under the UGC Act 1956, currently hosts ten schools offering more than 63 courses. Jharkhand State Foundation Day Celebrated Enthusiastically at Sona Devi University

Sona Devi University celebrated Jharkhand State Foundation Day with great enthusiasm on 15 November. Marking the completion of 25 years of the state’s formation, the university organized several events. During the program held at the Vivekananda Auditorium, Chancellor Shri Prabhakar Singh emphasized that everyone must perform their duties with hard work, dedication, and honesty, and contribute to the progress of the state. He said that only when Jharkhand advances will its distinct identity be strengthened and the state’s name shine. On the occasion of State Foundation Day cum Tribal Pride Day, the Chancellor extended greetings to all Deans, Heads of Departments, Assistant Professors, and students on the sacred occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Dharti Aaba Bhagwan Birsa Munda. He said that as Jharkhand completes 25 years, it is time to reflect on its future direction. Drawing inspiration from the lives of the state’s brave freedom fighters, he urged everyone to contribute to its development. He recalled the challenges faced during the formation of the state and noted the need to understand the circumstances under which Jharkhand was created. Despite being rich in mineral resources, the state continues to lag in education, health, industry, and development. He stressed the importance of collective responsibility to ensure progress, which would honor the sacrifices of the great freedom fighters. Shri Singh encouraged students to stay aware of their rights and raise their voice against injustice. Meanwhile, Registrar Dr. Gulab Singh Azad extended greetings on the 25th State Foundation Day and acquainted students with the historical background preceding the formation of Jharkhand. He discussed the region’s condition from the colonial era to the present and highlighted the contributions of great warriors such as Tilka Manjhi, Veer Budhu Bhagat, Sidho-Kanhu, and Phulo-Jhano. He urged students to take inspiration from their courage and sacrifice and participate actively in the state’s development. While discussing the current scenario, he emphasized the role of policies in shaping growth, citing the development trajectories of Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand—states formed alongside Jharkhand—as examples. He noted the immense potential for tourism-based industries in the region and reminded everyone of their responsibility to protect the land earned through struggle and sacrifice. He called for collective efforts to move Jharkhand forward and to remain aware of one’s rights while standing firmly against injustice. On this special occasion, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, Krishnendu Dutta, informed students about the unique features of various districts of Jharkhand, including its mineral wealth, natural beauty, and religious sites. Kumari Nikita, Assistant Professor in the Sanskrit Department, recited a poem titled “Jharkhand Ki Dharti Bol Uthi.” B. Pharma student Kaushlendra Yadav shared his views on the state’s development, while student Gayatri and her team performed a captivating folk dance. Winners of various competitions held during the Diwali Fair were also awarded certificates. The program commenced by paying floral tribute to the portrait of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, remembering his struggle, sacrifice, and contribution. The Vivekananda Auditorium stood witness to the grand celebration of Birsa Munda’s 150th birth anniversary and the silver jubilee of Jharkhand’s formation. As part of the week-long Foundation Day celebrations at Sona Devi University, multiple competitions were organized. On 12 November, an essay competition was held with eleven participants. On 13 November, a poster-making competition saw participation from students of various departments. The rangoli competition on 14 November witnessed enthusiastic participation from many students. Lakshmi Murmu, Sangeeta Baske, and Seema Mahato secured first place in the rangoli contest. According to Dr. Kanchan Sinha, Chairperson of the History Department and convenor of the event, Anshu Kumari (B. Pharma, 5th semester) won first place in the essay competition. Revati Kumari (Bachelor of Library Science, 1st year) stood second, and Kaushlendra Yadav (B. Pharma, 5th semester) secured third place. In the poster-making competition, Rahul Nayak (BFA, 3rd semester) won first place, while Jaydev Das (B. Pharma) secured second place. Third place was jointly awarded to Abhijeet Kumar (B. Pharma) and Mohan Yadav (D. Pharma). The program concluded with the national anthem.
